Peterborough Senior Men's Slo-Pitch Bylaws

1. Name
The name of the organization shall be Peterborough Senior Men's Slo-Pitch League

2 Purpose
The purpose of the organization is to play slo-pitch softball.

3 Memberships
A -Memberships shall be open to all who have attained the age of 55 years by May 1 of the year of joining.
B - Executive members must be active participants in the League.

4 Membership Fees
Membership fees shall be determined each year.  Non-playing umpires and non-playing managers will not pay a fee, but will have the rights and priveleges of the League.

A full refund of the League fee will be available April 1 each year.  After April 1, a levy of a $20 administration fee will be charged if a player decides to quit before the League starts the season.  

When a League member is unable to complete the season due to health issues before half of the season is completed, he will be entitled to a refund of $50.  After half of the season has been completed, this drops to $25

5 Executive
Executive mandate - The Executive, as the governing body of the League, will deal with all matters related to the League.  If a player is disciplined because of inappropriate behaviour, he will have the right of appeal to the Executive.  The Executive's decision will relect the best interests of the League and its players.

6 Officers
A - Officers of the organization will be President, Immediate Past President, Vice President, Treasurer, Registrar, Secretary, and five (5) Directors.
B - Election of Officers - Officers will be determined in August each year and take office in November.
C - The President and Vice President shall be elected for a term of one year, but may be re-elected to the same office for additional terms of one year.
D- In the event a vacancy occurs during the year, it is filled for the remainder of the term by Executive appointment.
E - The Treasurer shall be elected for a term of one year only, but may be re-elected to the same office for terms of one year.
F - The Secretary shall be elected for a term of one year, but may be re-elected to the same office for additional terms of one year.
G - The Historian's position will be appointed by the President if it is not filled by an Executive member.

7 Quorum
There must be at least six (6) of the ten (10) officers present at each meeting of the Executive, to be a duly constituted meeting.

8 General Meetings
There will be at least one general Meeting each year at the annual draft in April.

9 Signing Authority
Signing Officers for all cheques shall be the Treasurer and the President.

10 Annual Audit
An audit of the fiscal year's finances and records will be conducted on an annual basis.

11 Amendments
Any amendments to the Bylaws shall be by a 2/3 majority of the members at a General Meeting.

12 Bereavement
A $50 donation on the deah of an active member or his spouse or partner will be made to the approprite charity.

13 Honourary Lifetime Members
Current members are: Jack Mackness, Don Mark, Phil McKeating
Any consideration for a member to be made a lifetime member will involve his name being brought before the executive for discussion and decision.

14 PMSSL Alumni
All members who retire from the League will have the social rights and priveleges of the League.

15 Opening Day
Each year, a moment of silence will be held to recognize the deceased members of our League.

16 Wednesday Ball
Every player will be required to complete a contract stating when he is willing to join the regular League.  Players have the right of refusal to enter the regular League for the year that they join plus one year.  In the 3rd year, any refusal will terminate the player's priveleges.  Wednesday players have all of the social rights and priveleges of the League.

17 Leave of Absence
The leave request will be for one year only. After one year, a player will have to re-apply if he wishes to continue in the League.

18 Sponsors
The sponsorship fee is $140 per year.  Sponsors will replace team sweaters when required, and not be asked to pay the $140 sponsor fee that year.

19  Injured Player Replacement
When an injured player is going to be absent for more than 2 weeks, a temporary replacement of equal or lesser ranking will be assigned by the President or his delegate.  If an injured player is absent for 9 consecutive games or 14 regular season games, he will be ineligible to return to the League that year and will be added to the leave list for that year.  His temporary replacement will become a permanent player on that team for the balance of the year.
