As in the regular rules of slopitch, players are responsible for their own actions. Please support your fellow players to ensure they follow all current social distancing guidelines put forth in our area by the various levels of government. Most of these rules and guidelines are common sense. It is everyone’s goal to get back to a normal life so let’s ensure we are part of the solution not part of the cause.General Rules and GuidelinesThe league will provide hand sanitizer and other disinfectant supplies.Hand sanitizer will be available on each bench. Players may use it as often as they wish. The wearing of a cloth mask or gloves is not mandatory but is allowed. Players will supply their own mask and gloves if desired.Spectators should not use the bleachers in order to leave that space available for teams to spread out. Fans may watch from the first base side hill (with appropriate distancing).Ensure that your empty water bottles are put in the trash cans after your game so that others don’t have to touch it.These are strange times and we all may occasionally forget to adhere to a rule or and guideline. Do not be reluctant to help a teammate who strays, and do not take offence should someone remind you if you wander outside the lines.Players will supply their own hats. Team jerseys will be provided however the executive has decided to save the league hats until next year.Field Rules and GuidelinesDo not congregate in the dugout area before and after your game. When you arrive at the field, stay outside the outfield fence or on the first base side hill until the previous game is over, and leave the dugout area immediately after your game.Once you arrive at the dugout, pick a spot along the fence or out of play line etc. at least 6 feet from another player and put your personal equipment in this area.Players are encouraged to change shoes at their cars rather than at the dugout so that the area is not congested.Players need to distance while in the dugout. Use the bleachers as well as bench to maintain your separation.Do not spit on the field or in the dugout areas.Do not handle any equipment unnecessarily.Playing Rules and GuidelinesThe home plate umpire will wipe the game balls with an alcohol based cleaner before the game starts and in between innings.Rather than attempting to sanitize the tape on bat handles, each batter must sanitize their hands before touching a bat. Once they return to the dugout they should sanitize their hands again.Base coaches must remain at least 6 feet away from the base.Wearing batting helmets is optional for this season. Batting helmets are still recommended, but it is not possible to properly sanitize our league supplied helmets for rapid in-game sharing. In fact, players are encouraged to purchase their own helmets going forward which will help keep league equipment costs down.Pitching masks remain mandatory. Where pitchers do not supply their own mask, league masks will be sanitized before games, and not shared during a game. There is to be no hand slapping or physical contact during the game or handshakes after the game.Umpires may call the game if the rules are not followed.
